Project of vapor compression cooling system integrated phase change material storage for electric load shaving
The project was about designing a cooling system that was integrated with PCMs. As you might be aware of PCMs are materials with high specific heat that can store the heat and use when it’s needed. So, in this system, we use the PCM as a storage material, along with some novel methods to shift peak load. One of the ideas that bring us to design such a cycle was the electricity condition of our country. In hot days of summer, in the noon the compression coolers use the most power, and the peak load is higher in these times. Besides, the electricity price is also more expensive in the noon. We designed such a system that can store cooling loads in the nights until we can use it in the day times.
